A Penryn Park Summer Wedding
When I arrived at Penryn Park, the tent and ceremony were being set up. I walked into the mansion and up the stairs to be greeted by the bride, Courtney, with open arms. Her favourite ladies welcomed me right away and one even poured me a mimosa, making me feel like just one of the girls (tear)! By this time, Courtney’s mom had arrived with a little gift from her hubby-to-be. So unexpected and heartfelt, Courtney shed a few tears while reading a love note from her man.
The time had come and it was time for Courtney to get into her dress with the help of her maid of honour. The three of us went into a quiet space where the two ladies could share this moment. Courtney got into her dress, nerves in tack. Now all that was left to go was marry the man of her dreams.
Outside, the groom, Tyler, and his groomsmen had arrived and were ushering guests to their seats. Then, the moment had come and it was time to walk down the aisle. Courtney and Tyler had shared their vows and sealed it with a kiss. THEY’RE MARRIED!
Shortly after, my second shooter and I stole the bride and groom and took a golf cart to a bridge nearby where we would do their photos. Then, a miracle happened. During this time we saw a few butterflies floating around and Courtney had gone on to explain that she had lost her step father just last year. She continued to tell me that since his passing her mom is constantly visited by butterflies in which they determined that it was him showing up and checking in on them. By this point it was just Courtney, Tyler and I. My second shooter comes running up to us saying she has never seen anything like it but we must come over at once, having no idea the conversation the three of us just had. What do we see? A SWARM of butterflies. Naturally, I stuck Courtney and Tyler right in the middle of them and my second stood behind shaking that tree like it was her damn job. We had one chance to get this shot and dang it, we did it! Just after this, the four of us took a moment to cry, smile and embrace each other. It was one of the most amazing moments of my professional career.
We made our way back to the tent where the reception and speeches would start. After dinner Courtney and Tyler shared their first dance under string lights and the stars - it was a dream!
Then, the dance floor was open and I’m not kidding when I say almost every single person was out there busting a move. It made my heart so happy to see everyone dancing and having fun together. This group definitely knows how to party!
Courtney and Tyler, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, your day will forever be one of those weddings that I will never forget. Thank you so much!
